The Qualitative Reasoning Group at Northwestern University's Computer Science Department commissioned me to build the cabinet for an information kiosk. The kiosk has a large touch screen display and a Kinect sensor with cameras and a microphone. The research group is using this as a platform to build an interactive kiosk that recognizes when people are nearby and combines voice and touch to manage a dialog with people to answer their questions. It will be fun to see it evolve as their research progresses.

I made the cabinet using red oak, aluminum, and copper. The face is easily removed for maintenance, but a steel locking bar slides through steel brackets to keep the hardware inside secure from theft.
