I made a little bench for plants on my deck. This was a quick warm-up project before I tackle a commissioned box since I was feeling inadequate. 😅 It's made of cherry and the design on the sides was burned with my wood-burning pens.

This is also an experiment -- I'm curious how well wood survives being outside with a tung oil finish. Cherry wood isn't horrible outside but it's not one of the great outdoor woods like teak or ipe. I currently finished it with my regular tung oil, though I have some exterior grade tung oil on order (it adds some UV protection and fungicide). Once that arrives, I'll also apply that. Then I will let it all cure and put it outside. Knowledge shall be gained!
