Berry colors for the win. 😄 This candlestick was made from green ash. The poor tree from which this wood came had some damage from the ash borer, and you can see a bit of the beetles' damage in this piece . I used a torch to create the dark bands and watercolors to color the wood.

The copper sleeve serves two purposes – it's aesthetically pleasing and it's a functioning auto-snuffer. Once the wick of the candle burns down below the copper sleeve, the candle's own combustion gases deprive the flame of the oxygen it needs to burn.
